South Alabama “M” Basketball Shooting Drill

South Alabama "M" Basketball Shooting Drill

Having the correct footwork coming into a catch and shoot shot in basketball can make all the difference. If a player comes in with aggressive footwork and is balanced on their shot, the percentage of a make goes way up. On the flip side, if the player comes into their shot with unsure footwork and cannot get balanced, their shot is most likely going to have a much lower chance of going in.

The M shooting drill is all about working on the correct footwork when coming into your shot from different spots on the floor. It is a basketball drill that the University of South Alabama uses in their workouts, and it is a great basketball shooting drill that a player can do with a partner or in a team setting.

Basketball Drill Instructions

  • The player will start in the right corner for a catch and shoot 3 pointer.
  • They will then fill up and around the first cone on the wing for another 3, followed by the lane line, the next lane line, and finally, the opposite wing.
  • The player will now slide to the corner for a catch and shoot 3 to start the same pattern back, filling up and around each cone for a shot.
