Tennis Ball Toss Rhythm Competition Basketball Drill

Tennis Ball Toss Rhythm Competition Basketball Drill

This is one of the more advanced tennis ball toss basketball dribbling drills because you have to do a sequence of 4 different moves in a row, and you are also competing against other players and having to go as fast as you can. The best way to get better is to challenge yourself and push yourself to become a better player.

A great way to do that is through competition. If you have a player next to you who is doing the same basketball drill as you and is trying to beat you, you will try harder than you normally would. This drill is also great for thinking clearly under pressure because the players must remember what move is coming next.

  • The move sequence is; crossover (2), between the legs (2), behind the back (2), and reverse between the legs (2).
  • When the coach says go, the players will start to dribble the basketball and then toss the tennis ball up in the air.
  • While the tennis ball is up in the air, they must make the first move and then catch the tennis ball with the hand that just had the basketball in it.
  • They will repeat the move with the other hand and then move onto move number two.
  • If a player drops the tennis ball or loses the basketball on a move, it doesn’t count to their total.
