This is an advanced basketball drill that is going to incorporate scoring a couple of different ways. With this drill you are going to work on scoring off the dribble and also using a down, flare, or back screen. Being able to score in multiple ways makes you a lot harder to guard as a player and really adds value to your game on the offensive end of the floor. You will also be able to really work on your conditioning and mental toughness with this basketball drill.
Drill Name: Crossovers Double Pin Down Diamond Drill
Drill Goal: Work on scoring in different ways, conditioning, and mental toughness.
Equipment Needed: 2 basketballs and 1-4 partners.
Tips: Sell your crossover move as you dribble through the chairs, keep your eyes up, and stay low. Mix up your cuts and change up your speeds to be harder to guard. Get your body squared up on the shot and don't drift.
Directions: Place one chair at the free throw line, one 4-5 feet above the top of the key, and two chairs on either side in the middle so it makes a diamond shape. You are also going to place a chair on each wing about 12 feet from the basket. One player is going to stand under the basket to rebound, the coach will have a ball, and then the first player in the line of players just below half court will have a ball. The player at half court is going to dribble to the diamond of chairs do a a one dribble crossover at each chair (minus the chair on the opposite side of the diamond) and then go use any type of finish at the basket.
After that they are going to set up their imaginary defender under the basket and then come off either chair like they are going to shoot. They wont get the ball on the first cut so they will go back down and then come either wing chair again. This time they will get the ball for a mid range shot (coach can change up type of shot). After they shoot they will set up their imaginary defender one more time and use 1 or 2 different cuts again but this time for a catch and shoot 3 pointer. By this time the rebounder has mad their way to the top of the diamond to start the next repetition or is in the back of the line depending on how many players. Shooter now become rebounder.
