Foot work is so important in the game of basketball because you use it so many times through out a game. Whether you are playing defense, getting ready to shoot, or making a post move you are going to need good footwork. Your goal should be efficiency as a player. The more efficient you are with your footwork the more effective your moves will be.
The foot ups forward and backwards footwork drill is going to teach the player to be light on their feet, and to be able to quickly change directions. This footwork and agility workout is taken from the sport of soccer (European football) and is going to treat the basketball like a soccer ball. It is really good though for teaching players to be able to move quickly and lightly on their feet.
