Being able to harass a ball handler in the open court can make a huge difference on the defense end of the floor. It keeps the ball handler occupied and unable to see open teammates and run offense. On the other hand, being able to handle ball pressure as a point guard means so much to the offense and being able to execute. One of the marks of a great point guard is being able to execute even with intense ball pressure.
This defensive drill is going to work on being able to pressure the ball, but it is also an offensive drill as well because it allows the ball handler to get used to handling extreme defensive pressure. This is a drill that every point guard and primary ball handler needs to do.
