Being able to get squared up on the catch when a defender is pressuring you takes practice and the proper footwork. If the player catches the ball and is not able to get squared up to the basket than the defender is able to keep pressuring him/her because they are not a scoring threat. With the square up footwork live finish basketball drill you are going to practice squaring up against a token defender and then ripping the ball through and finishing at the basket. You have to be able to make the defender respect your ability to drive it past them and score or find and open teammate off of the penetration. Once you have done this a couple of times the defender will back off on the catch and give you more space because they don't want to get driven past. Be strong with the ball and learn to face the pressure.
