Villanova Wildcats: Cross Screen, Back Door, Side Ball Screen Basketball Play (11-12)

A good basketball play has different stages to it. If your first option isn’t there then it is important to have another action that you can get right into. Sometimes it is a drawn up play, but other times if you have a high IQ team they are able to get right into another action without the coach having to call it out. This play is going to involve multiple different screening options and cuts, and hopefully, the defense will breakdown and give up a good look at the basket for one of these actions.

Play Goal: Look inside for the cross screen post up for the big man. If that is not there swing the ball and look for the back door. Lastly, pop out, get the ball on the wing, and play out of a side ball screen.

Play Tips: Set a good cross screen and post up hard. Sell the back door cut and if you don’t get it pop out to the wing hard. Come off the ball screen looking to make a play, get in the paint and create for yourself or a teammate.
