What most players don’t realize, is that if you set a good screen you are most likely going to be the one that ends up open for a shot. For this basketball play, you want your best shooter to set the back screen, make his/her defender have to help, and then have them come off the down screen for an open shot. The only way that this play will work though is if the shooter is willing to set a great back screen.
Play Name: Pitt Panthers: Pin Down, Back Screen/Down Screen Basketball Play (11-12)
Play Goal: Set good screens and then get an open shot for the shooter at the top of the key.
Play Tips: Must set a good back screen and get the defense to help. Don’t make the shooter wait on the pass at the top of the key, hit them right when they pop free.
