Villanova Wildcats: Single Double Basketball Play (11-12)

This basketball play is all about setting good screens and then letting your shooter read his defender. If you have a really good scorer you need to be able to get them touches where they can get a quality shot. Floppy set plays are a great way to do that, especially for shooters. Create opportunities where your best player can get a good shot. Before you run a play like this though, you need to teach your shooter how to read their defender so that they can make the correct cut for the shot.

Play Goal: Set good screens and let the cutter read the defense and try to get an open catch and shoot shot.

Play Tips: Player setting the screen needs to open back up after they set the screen because they could be open if their man over helps on the screen. Cutter needs to set his man up and PG needs to pass the ball on time to the cutter.
