Being able to closeout quickly while still being under control is a skill that every basketball players should know how to do, but it is especially true for guards and wing players. One of the biggest keys to closing out is getting to the defender as the ball gets there. This way you are able to set up in a defensive stance before they can get into their shot or drive the ball. In order for the defensive player to be there on the catch they need to anticipate the pass, and then also be able to quickly closeout the ball.
The resistance band closeout drill is going to work on the players ability to quickly and efficiently close out in any direction.
