The 3-2 zone basketball defense is designed to contest 3 point shooters while still being able to protect the paint. If you have more size than your opponent and you are a pretty good shooting team you may face some 3-2 zone (if they have this in their arsenal of defenses). Even though a 3-2 zone defense isn’t very common it is important that you still have some offensive plays to use, just in case you face one.
The weak spots against a 3-2 zone defense are going to be in the corners and the free throw line area. So it is important that you are moving the ball from side to side and also getting player movement in and out of those areas.
On a quick reversal you can also drive a gap for a shot or kick out. Just make sure that the player does not over penetrate and get stuck inside the zone where there will be a lot of reaching hands.
