The handoff for this basketball play is just to get the shooter into position to cut through, and then come off the double screen action for the shot. A big key to this double screen basketball play working is the timing. When the shooter comes off the double screen he/she needs to get the basketball right away for the shot. Don’t make the shooter wait on the ball because it will allow the defense to recover and it will either be a contested shot or no shot at all.

Play Goal: Get a shot for one of your best shooters on the double screen action.
Play Tips: Shooter needs to cut hard after giving up the ball, set his/her man up in the paint, and then come hard off of the double screen. Screeners need to set good legal screens but must make contact with the shooter’s defender. Make sure that the shooter doesn’t have to wait on the ball after they come off the double screen.
