Motion Offense Basketball Plays
Motion offense basketball plays involve continual organized movement between the players and the basketball. Each player knows where they are to go and how they are to react when the ball is passed or dribbled to a certain spot on the floor.
There are rules to every motion offense, and the better that the players understand the rules the more fluid the offense will be. Motion offense is great for players who understand the game and can make reads on the fly, but it is important to have some motion plays for every basketball team.
Executing Motion Offense Basketball Plays
It is important in every motion offense that the players get the ball moving from side to side. The reason why this is important is because the more times you can get the defense to shift and have to communicate, the more chances there will be for a defensive breakdown.
Your players need to make sure that they are not just being robots in the offense, but also that they are running the offense the right way. If a player breaks off the play early don’t over criticize them, instead help them to understand when it is better to try and score within the motion offense.
You don’t want your team to just run the play without being a threat to score, because teams will pick up on that and your motion offense will be ineffective.
