Pitt Panthers: 2-3 Zone Ball Screen Offense (11-12)

This is one of the more simple basketball plays, but it shows that ball screens can be very effective against a 2-3 zone defense. The key to this zone offense is maintaining good spacing and putting a defensive player within the zone in conflict. Anytime that you can make a defensive player think and have to choose how he is going to guard an action, you create a chance for defensive break downs. So hopefully with this ball screen play you will get some miscommunication between the top players, and there will be a breakdown which allows a shot, drive, or chance to set up another teammate.

Play Tips: Set a good screen, keep proper spacing, and don’t catch and hold the ball if it is passed to you. Either catch and shoot or catch and re-drive the basketball for a shot or another kick out.
