Because each defender in a zone is designed a specific area to guard a ball screen usually works well because it overloads a specific portion of the zone. As long as the other 3 players are not standing and watching the ball screen, it will usually end up in some good action. The man coming off of the screen is rarely going to be the one shooting the ball. It is his/her job to get the defense to suck in and then kick out to an open teammate. This basketball play is also going to have a baseline runner as the ball handler comes off the screen. By doing this the zone will be even more overloaded.

Play Goal: Play out of the ball screen and get a shot or attack again off of the kick out.
Play Tips: Attack off of the ball screen and make the defense suck in. If you catch the kick out off of the ball screen don’t just catch and hold it. Either shoot it, drive it, or swing it to an open teammate.
