A motion offense can be a really good weapon to have in your basketball playbook. The key is having players that can read the defense and also players that aren't just going to go through the motions. If your team is not setting good screens, cutting hard, and moving the basketball then you are not going to end up with a good look.
The idea is that if you have enough good actions in a row the defense is eventually going to make a mistake and break down. It is important to have a good balance of both set plays and motion offenses making up your teams basketball plays. That way you can see what the defense is doing, and then find the right action to exploit it.
Play Name: West Virginia: Motion Offense (08-09)
Play Goal: Keep setting good screens, cutting hard, and moving the basketball until the defense breaks down and gives up a good shot.
Tips: Keep good spacing and move the basketball from one side of the floor to the other. Don't catch and hold the basketball and don't player like a robot. If the defense starts cheating the play make them pay.
