Reverse Between the Legs Double Pin Down Diamond Basketball Drill

Reverse Between the Legs Double Pin Down Diamond Basketball Drill

This basketball drill will help you work on multiple offensive areas at the same time. You will work on your ball handling, scoring around the basket, and shooting off a pin-down screen. As a basketball player, you want to be able to score in more than just one or two ways.

If you look at the great basketball scorers, you will see that they can score in many different ways from all over the floor. This is also a great drill for training mentally because you have to remember the correct move to do even when you are tired.

Goals of the Drill

Coaching Points

  • Keep your eyes up on the dribbling move and keep the basketball tight to your body on the moves.
  • Visualize the defender when using the pin-down screen and setting your man up.
  • Mix up your speeds when using the pin-down screen.

Basketball Drill Instructions

  • Set up 4 chairs in the shape of a diamond with the first chair at the free-throw line and the last chair 3-4 feet above the top of the key.
  • You will also set up a chair on each wing about 12 feet from the basket.
  • One player will start under the basket to rebound the first 2 shots, another player/coach will be the passer, and then the line of players will start at half court.
  • The first player will dribble down the first chair, make a reverse between the legs move, take one dribble, repeat the move, take a dribble and then do the move on last time at the final chair.
  • Now the player will finish at the basket with any type of finish (predetermine the type of finish).
  • After that, they will set their imaginary defender up under the basket and then come off either wing pin-down chair.
  • You can also predetermine the type of shot they shoot; straight cut, fade cut, midrange post up, etc.
  • Also, to make the drill more advanced, you can have the player not get the ball on the first cut and have to set up their man again and come off.
  • The player will shoot a total of 2 pin-down shots.
  • If there are only 2 players, then after the first pin down shot, the player rebounding the basketball will take the ball and go get ready for their turn.
  • After the player shoots all his shots, then he/she will become the next rebounder.
