The down screen is a pretty common screen in the game of basketball, and good teams will use one almost every time down the floor. When the cutter sets his defender up to come off the down screen, he/she needs to first determine how their man is guarding them, and then decide what cut they should use off of the screen. There are several different types of cuts that could be used and they are all basketball fundamentals that should be learned by any shooter, or player that is going to move a lot without the basketball.
This video will teach you how to curl off of a down screen by showing you how to set up your defender, the proper footwork for the cut, and then completing the move. The video is instructed by an expert basketball coach and then the move is demonstrated by a high level basketball player.
